What it is

MindEat is a cooking app. When one of our users asks to import a recipe from a link they chose, our servers read that single page to pull out its ingredients and method, so the user gets a clean copy in their own private library instead of retyping it.

What it is not

• It does not crawl. It never follows links from a page to other pages, and it never walks a site.
• It is not scheduled. There is no queue and no sweep. Every request is triggered by a person tapping "import" on a link.
• It does not build a search index or a content database.
• It does not copy your images. Recipes shown in our public discovery feed carry an illustration we generate ourselves.

How to recognise it

Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; MindEatBot/1.0; +https://mindeat.app/bot)

Requests come from Google Cloud Functions IP ranges (europe-west1). Some imports are instead performed by the user's own phone, using an ordinary mobile browser user-agent — those are a person visiting your page, and are not this bot.

How to block it

Add this to your robots.txt:

User-agent: MindEatBot
Disallow: /

If you would rather not wait for us to notice, email app.mindeat@gmail.com and we will add your domain to our own block list.

Removing content

If a recipe of yours already appears in our discovery feed and you want it gone, see the takedown section on our support page. We remove it — no legal process needed.
